Emergency Preparedness Training

Prepared in terms of

Crises and wars are raging around the world. The Civil Defense Agency is clear: every company, every municipality, every employee, and every resident has a role to play. But most people lack the knowledge of what to actually do when the water stops running, the heat goes out, or their cell phone stops working.

“Prepared When It Counts” is a basic course in crisis preparedness based on the Swedish Civil Defense Agency’s guidelines for individuals and businesses. We’ll help you move from anxiety to taking action through practical exercises in one of Sweden’s most unique natural environments—Halle and Hunneberg, part of Sweden’s first UNESCO Global Geopark. You’ll leave the day with concrete knowledge, strengthened team spirit, and a sense that you’re truly prepared.

Here's what you'll take home with you

-Practical and concrete knowledge about water, heat, and food without electricity.

- An understanding of how to communicate and stay informed during a crisis.‍

- Tools for basic first aid and hygiene when society isn’t functioning as usual.‍

- Strengthened cohesion and a shared point of reference, since you’ve practiced together.‍

- A sense that you’re actually prepared when it really counts.‍

- A checklist of what you need to review once you’re back at work or at home.

Schedule for the Training Day

8:30 a.m.
Gather at Bäverhyddan around a campfire. Coffee or tea brewed over the fire and a simple sandwich will be served. Introduction to the day’s activities and getting to know one another.

9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Practical exercises on three themes: Water: A crisis often begins when everyday life stops functioning at home or at work. We’ll go over how to prepare and what to keep in mind when the tap water runs out. You’ll try your hand at purifying water in different ways, using your own hands. Heat: This involves understanding how the body loses heat, how your home and workplace function without electricity, and what actually makes a difference when the temperature drops. Hands-on activities where you’ll feel the difference between various materials and their strengths. Food: We’ll cover emergency food supplies, shelf life, and cooking methods that don’t require electricity. Then we’ll cook lunch together on a camping stove.

11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Lunch. We’ll eat together the food you’ve just prepared

12:30 p.m.–1:00 p.m.
Group walk with time for conversation and reflection on how you can get started with preparedness at home.

1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. Option 1: Presentation by your in-house expert on the topic. A representative from your organization will share how your specific operations are affected by civil preparedness and what you are already doing or need to do. An opportunity to make the day directly relevant to your specific situation. Option 2: One of our knowledgeable staff members will lead a session on crisis management and crisis communication based on real-world examples.1

3:45 – 3:15 PM
Afternoon session featuring two theoretical topics, followed by Q&A and discussion‍‍

Communication: How do you stay informed when cell networks and the internet are down? We’ll review the information channels that actually work during a crisis, what the authorities expect from you, and how you can strengthen your psychological defenses against disinformation.‍‍

Healthcare and Hygiene: What should a well-stocked home medicine cabinet or first-aid kit contain? How do you treat common injuries without access to medical care, and what do you do when the toilet won’t flush? The session concludes with an open discussion, because that’s often where the most important conversations take place.
